Data Protection & Privacy

Your privacy is very important to me.  You can be confident your personal information will be kept safe and secure and will only be used for the purpose it was given to me.  I hold all client information in line with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Data Protection & Privacy Details

I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ZA754103).

Personal  Data

When you contact me with an enquiry, I will collect your name, address, contact telephone number, email address and date of birth.  I may also request details of your GP and relevant medical history and current medications.  I will also ask for an emergency contact.  If you decide not to proceed, I will ensure all your personal data is deleted immediately.

Your data is your data and is only used in ways to help me provide a better service (mainly record keeping).  Records will be destroyed 5 years after counselling has ended unless we negotiate otherwise.

During your counselling, everything you discuss with me is confidential and this will only be broken as per the reasons outlined in our Agreement to Counselling (severe risk to the health and well-being of yourself or another person or when it relates to the prevention, detection or investigation of a crime).  I will keep a record of your personal details securely and not share these with any third party.

I keep brief factual written notes of each session, these being anonymised for additional security.  You have a right to access these notes and if you object to any information recorded, you have a right to complain.
